Lloyd's Syndicate - Box Business

With 90% of the Syndicate’s premium transacted through the Box, the Lloyd’s trading floor is still the main underwriting focal point of the Syndicate. Positioned at Box No. 184 on Gallery One at Lloyd’s, the Box underwriters will be available to underwrite business during the hours of 11.30am until 1.00pm, then 2.45pm until 4.30pm. The class specific underwriters are:

Professional Indemnity

Dominic Frost, Craig Nugent, Andy Doré and Warren Jones

Medical Malpractice

Warren Jones and Andy Doré

Financial Institutions

Roberto Murru (and in his absence Craig Nugent)

Directors & Officers Liability

Samantha Dias (and in her absence Natalie Honey)

The Box should be manned at all times, and although flexibility will be granted to accommodate business trips and holidays, one responsible underwriter should be available each day for each class of business. Underwriters can still be seen in the office outside of these times.

Since its establishment in 2004 the Syndicate underwriters have shown flexibility in terms of product and broker development to reflect the changing dynamics of the market. Part of this has included a more expansive approach to overseas business and we now write a carefully selected book of business in territories including Europe, the Middle East, Canada, Caribbean, Australasia, South and Central America and the Far East.

To summarise, the key benefits of using the Box include:

  • Direct access to underwriters;
  • Global Lloyd’s licensing;
  • Instant decision making;
  • 100% Lloyd’s security;
  • "A" rated Syndicate reinsurance protection;
  • Ability to write overseas business;
  • Both 100% facultative and subscription capabilities;
  • Both primary and excess layer capabilities;
  • Exclusivity of quotes where necessary;
  • Slip documentation (including endorsements) can be agreed at the Box without referral back to the office together with other such administrative duties.
